As a Christian, this matter doesn’t anger me, it merely saddens me. To recognise the truth of the times coming to the surface, the tides of darkness underwriting all that is good and all that is right in the world. Naturally, the politically-correct response would be to shut up and accept such a move as we live in an age of tolerance and multiculturalism. My very statements, as some will argue, are guided, or even “clouded”, by my faith perspective.

However, in such a perspective, truth is not relative, truth is absolute. As such, from my perspective, this world is slowly decaying and I pity the generations that will follow mine as the darkness and decay continues to grow. In a world where there is no truth, no authority, no God – it will be a sad and desolate place to be.

None of this comes as a surprise to us, as Christians. While God only knows when the End will come, the signs of the age are indeed prevalent. I am scared to think that if the End is not near, then the situation can only get exponentially worse. Just a few things to highlight:

  • (Mt. 24:6) “You will hear of wars and rumours of wars…”
  • (Mt. 24:7) “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.”
  • (Mt. 24:38-39) “For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, […] and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away.”

“The LORD saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.” (Gen. 6:5)

The sad truth is that humanity is corrupt. On the other hand, Jesus Christ has been sent to right that corruption. He gave His life as a ransom, a price, a sacrifice for the lives of humanity – for you and me – that we might be freed from the corruption of humanity and live in truth. The days of Noah already seem to be true of our current generation, but in the case that it is yet to reach its culmination then we should only be more fervent in our pursuit of truth and freedom.

The world is a dark, dark place and one day, it will all be judged and condemned for the darkness is simply too great for God to bear any longer.
